Nicole Kidman Mentions Her Estranged Children With Tom Cruise

Nicole Kidman hasn’t talked about the children she once shared with ex-husband Tom Cruise in years. Although Kidman only alluded to this in the past, her relationships with her older children, Connor and Isabella Cruise, aren’t ideal.

When she and Tom divorced, the children decided to continue their life with Cruise in Los Angeles, while Kidman distanced herself in the wake of the high-profile split. Since then, it’s been widely rumored the reason behind the estrangement is that her children, along with Cruise, still practice Scientology, and when the pair divorced, Kidman was forced to separate herself from the church as well.

The actress, who is currently starring in Grace of Monaco, is on the latest cover of Women’s Weekly, and she opened up during her interview about how happy her life is with her husband Keith Urban, and their daughters Sunday, 5, and Faith, 3.

According to the Kidman the “most important” thing in her life is “the love of our relationship and my children.”

“The joy I get from us as a family outweighs any joy in any other area of my life, by far.”

Since the highly-publicized divorce in 2001, Nicole Kidman has only been photographed on a few occasions with Isabella and Connor, and that was back in 2006. Even though Kidman’s relationship, or lack thereof, isn’t ideal, the Rabbit Hole actress still seems to take a lot of pride and joy in seeing her children do well from afar.

Of 19-year-old Connor, who is a DJ, and 21-year-old Isabella, an artist, she said:

“They have both chosen to pursue creative and artistic fields and are doing brilliantly. They are generous, kind and hardworking. And these are traits that I love to see in my children.”

Back in 2007, Kidman’s words during an interview cut deep when discussing her relationship with her children:

“My kids don’t call me mommy, they don’t even call me mom. They call me ‘Nicole,’ which I hate and tell them off for it.”

The only time the actress spoke about Scientology, a religion she doesn’t share with her children or Cruise, she quickly shut down the discussion during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“I’ve chosen not to speak publicly about Scientology. I have two children who are Scientologists … and I utterly respect their beliefs.”

Although Kidman seems to be happy with husband Keith Urban, she’s once again dealing with rumors of their impending split.
