Nicki Minaj Thinks ‘Pills N Potions’ Is A ‘Tragic Love Story’
Nicki Minaj recently shared some inside info about her new single “Pills N Potions.”
If you’ve spent the past few days trying to unravel the meaning of the rapper’s latest musical creation, then you’ve stumbled across the right article. Minaj recently discussed the song and its genesis during a chat with Ryan Seacrest. Although you could approach the tune in a straightforward manner, Nicki revealed that there’s actually much more to the song than meets the eye.
“I feel like it’s kind of like a tragic love story. And it doesn’t even necessarily have to be like a boy and girl relationship. I just kind of feel like while I was working on the album I started realizing how much I’ve changed, and how people change. And how people come in and out of your life, and I just felt like talking about that. I had never really discussed that,” the rapper explained.
Minaj continued, “I’ve just been reflecting, and that’s what the song is about. I love that it has the [last] feeling of no matter what, I still love. There’s still love there. And that’s pretty much what the song means to me.”
Unfortunately for Nicki Minaj fans, a concrete release date for The Pink Print is still unavailable as of this writing. Is she the latest artist to attempt a surprise Beyonce-style release? Will the collection of songs magically appear on iTunes without notice? It’s anyone’s guess at this point, which is precisely how Minaj likes it.
“I don’t want them to think about the release date. I want them thinking about the music,” Nicki explained. In other words, she’s not coughing up any info just yet. As soon as she’s ready to share the music with the masses, the world will certainly hear about it.
One thing’s for certain: Nicki Minaj and her label seem pretty confident that The Pink Print is going to knock you right out of your overpriced designer socks. Cash Money’s Birdman told Billboard earlier this year that the rapper’s detractors won’t have too many nasty things to say about Minaj once they get their hands on the new record.
“For the new album, she’s doing what she feels like doing and we’re supporting her. You hear a lot of growth in her music. She’s coming confident and hard. We expect for this to be one of the biggest [albums] from her. It’s more rap. This album is going to have a little bit of everything but more rap. I am sure some of the team will be on it,” he explained.
Nicki Minaj’s The Pink Print will likely arrive at some point this summer. In the meantime, you can purchase her new single “Pills N Potions” through a number of different digital retailers.
