Sarah Palin, the former Governor of Alaska and Vice Presidential choice of Republican John McCain, has brought herself needlessly into the headlines once more. While she has tried to focus her ridiculous statements lately on domestic affairs, she decided to weigh in on the current crisis in the Ukraine while speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
And what did Sarah Palin say that President Barack Obama should do this time to make sure he gets the results Americans demand? He should threaten Russian President Vladimir Putin with nuclear war. That is right — nuclear war.
Palin said in her speech:
“The only thing that stops a bad guy with a nuke is a good guy with a nuke”.
Palin believes that President Obama has been too weak on foreign policy and has encouraged the bad guys to act a little crazy. But, in her opinion, a nuke or two could stop that cold in its tracks.
The Republican almost Vice President told the crowd that Obama has implemented policies that “would gut our arsenal while he allows others — enemies — to enrich theirs”.
Tensions between the US and Russia have reached levels higher than since the Cold War. Russia basically invaded the Ukrainian province of Crimea after a vote by the locals to secede from the Ukraine and formally join Russia. The move has not been recognized by the vast majority of the world. Russian President Vladimir Putin has cemented his reputation as the ultimate world tough guy. It has been widely speculated that Putin harbors intentions of reuniting the former Soviet Union and reconquering many of the areas that left after the fall of the Iron Curtain.
Do you think that Sarah Palin is right and the United States should be threatening nuclear war in order to protect the territorial integrity of the Ukraine?
