Miley Cyrus Fan Says He Won’t Stop Until ‘She Accepts Him Or He Dies’
A temporary restraining order was granted to Miley Cyrus on Friday against one of her fans. He will not be allowed within 100 yards of her home, workplace or vehicle.
Devon Meek, 24, was found outside of a property in Sierra Vista, Arizona, that he was certain was owned by Miley, on May 16th. He was arrested and brought to a psychiatric facility, where he continues to be held.
Meek has stated that he believes Miley Cyrus is talking to him in her songs. Specifically, he mentioned that he heard her say she ‘adores’ him. It is likely he heard the phrase in Miley’s song, “Adore You,” which was actually written by Stacy Barthe and Oren Yoel.
The already straight out of Criminal Minds situation gets worse. Meek told police that they should shoot him in the head if he’ll never be able to meet Cyrus.
Detective Rosibel Smith said, according to ABC News, that the interviewing officer relayed, “Mr. Meek stated that when he is released from the hospital, he will not stop seeking Ms. Cyrus and that he will continue to go to Ms. Cyrus’ residence until Ms. Cyrus accepts him or he dies.”
The former Disney star has not yet been approached by Meek but is understandably fearful for her safety, considering his deep obsession for Miley and current mental state.
There will be a hearing on June 16th to determine whether to extend the restraining order against Meek for three more years. There’s been no declaration from Miley Cyrus on the filing.
Cyrus is currently on her Bangerz tour in France and has shown no signs of cancelling her next show in Cologne, Germany over the drama. Of course, this isn’t Miley’s first brush with a crazed and obsessive fan.
Back in November of 2012 Miley Cyrus had a terrifying encounter with 40-year-old Jason Luis Rivera. He was given 18 months in jail, and she received a restraining order, after he broke into her house wielding a pair of scissors. When he was arrested, Rivera was heard telling officers, “I am friends with Miley Cyrus. I am. She’s my wife. Me and Miley have been friends for five years.”
Earlier this year, another fan was arrested for trespassing behind stage and attempting to break into her dressing room. Tucker Salvesen, 18, used a backstage pass and believed it would gain him access to the restricted areas. Then he located Miley’s dressing room. He left a sweet note for the singer, but for someone who’s supposed to be in a secure location, it’s easily still a shock.
