Pop star and actress Jennifer Lopez and singer Marc Anthony are divorcing after seven years of marriage.
“We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters,” the superstar couple told People magazine in a joint statement.
Lopez, 41, and Anthony, 42, were married in a low-key 2004 ceremony at J.Lo’s Beverly Hills home.
In addition to parenting 3-year-old fraternal twins – Max and Emme – together, the couple embarked on numerous professional partnerships as well, from singing duets and starring in the same film to fashion lines at Kohl’s department store.
The divorce marks the second for Anthony and third for Lopez, who prior to tying the knot with Marc, had a series of high-profile relationships – Sean “P.Diddy” Combs, Ben Affleck, and Cris Judd just to name a few.
The couple ended their statement on Friday by revealing that it was a “painful time for all involved,” and requesting that their privacy be respected.
