Jay Z and Solange Knowles recently decided to reunite following their epic confrontation during the Met Gala earlier this month.
For those who haven’t paid any attention to the internet over the past week, the rapper and his sister-in-law were famously involved in a physical altercation inside an elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York City. Unfortunately for Jay Z and Solange , surveillance footage of the fight ended up in the hands of TMZ . Not surprisingly, the video became a viral sensation shortly after its release.
Although tabloids and celebrity gossip websites would like everyone to believe that Jay Z and Beyoncé’s marriage is in danger of falling apart, apparently it’s not as bleak as reports suggest. According to the New York Daily News , Jay Z and Solange Knowles reunited during a family get-together in New Orleans’ French Quarter over the weekend.

The leaked security footage — which reportedly cost TMZ around $250,000 — obviously caused some behind-the-scenes turmoil for Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Solange. What was a private problem suddenly became worldwide news, prompting the singer and her sister to issue a statement to The Associated Press .
The press release explained:
“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”
The statement added:
“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”
Since Jay Z and Solange managed to reunite without further incident, it seems the animosity between the rapper and his sister-in-law is officially squashed. Unfortunately for the security guard who leaked the footage, his problems are reportedly just beginning.
