Dad Threw Baby Into Pool: Arizona Dad Tries To Teach ‘Lesson’ To 22-Month-Old Baby
A dad threw his baby into a pool to teach her a “lesson” and police are now investigating the incident. According to CBS News, Corey Edmond McCarthy, 23, was arrested on suspicion of child abuse after throwing his 22-month-old daughter, Mia, into a swimming pool. Apparently the little girl threw a puppy into the pool moments earlier and the puppy died. Her father decided that he wanted to teach his daughter about the dangers of a swimming pool.
“The video shows McCarthy apparently throwing the child nearly across the width of the pool before the girl hits the water. In the video, McCarthy’s girlfriend is seen swimming after the child to retrieve her.”
McCarthy reportedly wanted to scare his daughter — to make her afraid of the water — and so he threw her in… face-first.
The dad who threw the baby into the pool was arrested after the baby’s mother got her hands on a surveillance video. The baby’s mother got a hold of the video and brought it to the police. On the video, you can see the child unattended by the pool for nearly 30 minutes before she got a hold of the puppy and dropped it in.
Hollywood Life reports:
“In the video, which is disturbing to watch, the man dangles his daughter over the water to scare her. Then, he continuous to torment the terrified little girl as he pretends he is going to throw her into the water. Suddenly, without any warning, he lifts her up into the air and finally lets go — which leaves Mia flying into the pool water face-first.”
The video is undoubtedly hard to watch. The little girl begins sinking the moment that she hits the water and Corey Edmond McCarthy kind of just stands there. Fortunately, Mia was okay following the frightening ordeal.
The baby’s mother, Samantha, said:
“I am very angry and I’m very hurt and I just hope that my kids are going to be OK from this. People make mistakes, but this is past a poor decision and a mistake. This is a child.”
Many hope that the dad who threw his baby into the pool loses custody of her. Sadly, there have been a few stories like this in the news lately. Today, The Inquisitr reported that the dad of a 6-year-old boy apologized after kicking his son down a skateboard ramp. Apparently the dad was trying to get his son over his fear of the height of the ramp.
While this might not be as “life-threatening” as throwing your toddler into a swimming pool, one has to wonder why parents think that this sort of physical “tough love” is acceptable.
