Imagine Dragons Announce Song for Transformers: Age Of Extinction
American rock band Imagine Dragons has written a song specifically for the upcoming Paramount Pictures action movie Transformers: Age of Extinction. The members of Imagine Dragons saw an early screening of the film and were asked to create an original song for the soundtrack of the film, which would later be implemented into the final cut by director Michael Bay. The song is titled “Battle Cry” and will be performed by Imagine Dragons at the premiere of Transformers: Age of Extinction in Hong Kong on June 19.
You can watch the video announcement for the song below.
Imagine Dragons were also asked to contribute to the final score of the film, according to ComicBook.com. Band mates Dan Reynolds, Ben McKee, Wayne Sermon and Daniel Platzman collaborated with composers Steve Jablonsky and Hans Zimmer. Michael Bay has released a statement about involving Imagine Dragons in the film on his website, MichaelBay.com.
“We’re incredibly lucky that Dan, Wayne, Ben and Daniel were available to work with us. I remember being drawn to the emotion of ‘Demons’ and ‘Radioactive’ the first time I heard those songs, and I knew I wanted that same energy and heart for this movie. They’ve created a really epic, otherworldly sound for ‘Battle Cry.'”
Speaking on behalf of the band was the label head at KIDinaKORNER records, Alex Da Kid:
“The TRANSFORMER franchise has set the bar for cinematic innovation over the years. We are excited to collaborate with Michael Bay and Paramount Pictures and view this as an incredible global platform.”
Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth film in a successful blockbuster franchise, will be released in theaters everywhere on June 27. You can watch the official trailer below.
Imagine Dragons is a Grammy-winning alternative rock group, known for their hit “Radioactive” from their album Night Visions, which went platinum. Since then, the band has used their success to benefit charities. They’ve even started their own, The Tyler Robinson Foundation, which helps young people battling cancer. Imagine Dragons is currently finishing up their second full length album, going so far as to cancel performances to get the project released.
In a recent tweet, Imagine Dragons referred to the new song “Battle Cry” as a way to hold fans over until the second album is finally finished.
