Money Isn’t The Most Cherished Graduation Gift, Read On To Find What Is Appreciated

Parents, relatives and friends have always considered money as the simplest and the most ideal graduation gift. But a new survey has offered glimpses into the minds of graduates and indicated what they coveted as graduation gifts.

Registries and traditions have always come in handy when choosing gifts for many of life’s momentous occasions. Weddings, births, house–warming, etc. have a pre–set or pre–determined list of gifts which make it quite easy to quickly pick–up a gift. Though graduation is an equally common event, choosing a gift for this occasion can often be tricky. Hence instead of experimenting, people more than often, settle on cash to gift the graduating scholar.

According to National Retail Federation, 88.8% of gifts handed to graduates consisted on either cash or its near equivalent; gift cards. However, the graduation gifting segment is estimated to be worth about $4.7 Billion and that is certainly not a small amount to simply rely on some cash stuffed in an envelope.

So what do young graduates prefer? Recent high school graduates, who just finished their first year of college, opened up about the oft discussed, but seldom executed topic of ideal graduation gifts. According to these youngsters, though money is a simple, yet well–intended gesture, there are many other options that convey the warm sentiments and efforts that have gone in deciding the graduation gift.

Practical Items Top The List Of Ideal Graduation Gifts

College life and the period thereafter can be a bit frazzled as these young adults are trying to figure out the world and learning skills which were hereto never required. Hence practical things like laundry detergents, good–quality cooking supplies and bags or totes of various sizes to hold a variety of stuff including clothing and cutlery are all appreciated as great graduation gifts.

While there are registries for other big occasions, there are ‘lists’ for people going off to college. Hixson High School graduate McCoy revealed the items that her parents listed as essential. While it is needless to mention the obvious, some of the non–standard but often required items were: stain remover, dishes, sheets, picture-hanging strips. If needed some of the other items that could make the cut include, duct tape, extra–strong cleaning liquid, suitcases that double as storage units, torches, double–sided tape and so on.

Essentially, urban survival gear can be collectively termed as the most appreciated gift items. Those who are stuck on what to offer as an ideal graduation gift can take one quick look in the kitchen or the bedroom or even the living room to come up with items that often overlooked, but are direly needed.

Bottom–line, think of something that is practical, relevant and useful in multiple occasions, shared the graduates who survived the first year of graduation, reported TimesFreePress.
