Shaun White Crashes Prom To Surprise Fan Who Sent Video Invite

Shaun White had a huge surprise this weekend for Carly Monzo, a fan who asked the US Olympic medalist to her prom via a viral Vimeo video. White never gave Monzo an answer, but during the senior prom at St. Joseph’s Academy, the lights turned down and the dean of students called on Carly. That was when Shaun made his big entrance. “I didn’t know that Shaun would be there until they dropped the curtain on the stage,” Monzo told Philly.com. “The dean of students called my name and I thought, ‘Oh my God, what did I do?’ I mean, I’ve spent time in her office, but it’s usually for uniform things.” When the curtain dropped, there was Shaun White and his band, Bad Things. The band performed “Unchained Melody” and “Shout,” with Shaun getting the prom crowd pumped. “He just pulled out the dance moves,” Monzo said. “I thought he was going to have trouble keeping up with me but I was like, ‘I can’t keep up with this.'” The prom crashing was likely a bit of fun for Shaun White after a disappointing Winter Olympics in Sochi. After reaching the halfpipe finals, the two-time medalist failed to earn any hardware. Shaun had already dropped out from the slopestyle event to focus on the halfpipe, his specialty. White originally said he wanted to win two gold medals to go along with the two he already has, which would have made him the most decorated male Olympian in the sport. But the prom crashing seemed to be a good consolation for Shaun White, who posted pictures on Twitter showing his preparation for the big night.

It looks like Shaun White is a world champion prom date, too.
