Truckload Of Burger King French Fries Catches Fire In Walmart Parking Lot [Video]

A truckload of Burger King french fries recently caught fire in a Walmart parking lot. Unfortunately, firefighters didn’t use buckets of ketchup to contain the blaze.

Although this may sound like a headline straight out of a poorly-written Hollywood comedy, the situation actually went down earlier this week in Waterville, Maine. According to The Washington Free Beacon, approximately 40,000 pounds of delicious Burger King french fries went up in smoke on Tuesday (April 22) at around 7 pm.

The driver, who understandably didn’t want his name shared with the public, said he could smell smoke coming from the back of the truck during his recent trip from Prince Edward Island to New Jersey. The Portland Press Herald explains that the driver pulled the vehicle into a busy Walmart parking lot to properly investigate the situation. That’s when the fire reportedly broke out.

While the sight of 40,000 pounds worth of burning Burger King french fries probably drew the attention of several individuals, no injuries were officially reported as a result of the blaze. Locals firefighters managed to keep the dangerous situation contained to the truck itself. Outside of some minor traffic congestion, the incident didn’t cause too much trouble for folks in Waterville.

Neither Midland Transport Limited nor Burger King have commented on the situation as of this writing. According to The Huffington Post, Waterville Fire Chief David LaFountain said it was fortunate that there wasn’t anything hazardous or outrageously dangerous packed inside the truck when the fire started. Say what you will about Burger King’s french fries, but at least they don’t pose a direct threat to the environment when they burn out of control.

“It would be more of a danger if it were something hazardous, but it looks like ordinary combustible material,” LaFountain remarked.

As strange this situation may sound, The Inquisitr reported last year that another truckload of Burger King french fries caught fire near Auburn, California. Oddly enough, it was a brake fire towards the back of the rig that caused the vehicle to burst into flames. Thanks to the work of area firefighters, the blaze was properly contained in under 10 minutes without any injuries.

Fear not, french fry enthusiasts: Burger King hasn’t reported any shortages of their tasty side item as a result of the recent fiasco in Maine. The next time you decide to swing by the restaurant for a Whooper combo, you should have plenty of crunchy fries to go with your order.
