Age of Conan goes free-to-play, adds a bunch of content

Call me crazy, but I think game developers and publishers are really starting to take a liking to that whole free-to-play model. Over the past several weeks we’ve seen Team Fortress 2, City of Heroes and, to a lesser extent, World of Warcraft go free-to-play. And now Age of Conan has hopped aboard the free-to-play bandwagon.

Age of Conan: Unchained, as the MMO is now called, adds an item shop and ‘membership tiers’, offering up premium users with exclusive content. The shift over to free-to-play is accompanied by a rather massive patch that adds new solo instances, a reworking of many of the game’s raids, PVP and class adjustments, and a whole lot more.

If you’re interested in learning more about all of the new content and changes in the update, head over to the patch notes at this link. If you want to get started playing Age of Conan, head over to the official website here.
