Basketball fans can watch the Grizzlies vs. Thunder series online with streaming video of the NBA playoffs and see if the teams can match last year's thrilling series.
In the 2013 playoffs, the Grizzlies dashed Oklahoma City's title hopes with an upset victory, winning in just five games. The Grizzlies outmuscled the Thunder, getting 28 points from Zach Randolph in the close-out game to seal the upset.
The teams meet again this year in the first round 1, with tipoff of the first game scheduled at 9:30 pm ET from Oklahoma City.
But fans who watch the Thunder vs. Grizzlies online through streaming video will see a much different Oklahoma City team. Last year the team was without play-making guard Russell Westbrook, who had a season-ending knee injury in the previous series. With Kevin Durant again leading the NBA in scoring, the second option of Westbrook will make for a much more difficult matchup for the Grizzlies.
"It's huge because he's a great player, and we rely on him for a lot of what we do," Thunder forward Nick Collison said about Westbrook's absence. "I think it really hurt us last year for how sudden it was for him to be hurt, and we really didn't have much time to deal with it. I think we feel better about it this year, going in at full strength. He's one of our best players, one of our leaders, and we're much better off with him, that's for sure."
The teams have built up quite a rivalry in the past few years. Memphis' Zach Randolph and Oklahoma City's Kendrick Perkins have clashed often, including an altercation during the 2012 regular season that saw both player ejected. The Thunder already have a reputation as a tough team, leading the league with 52 player technicals and second with 41 team technicals.
"That's what makes playoff basketball fun, and we're expecting it to be that way," said Mike Miller of the Grizzlies.
