Not much is known about the plot for Batman vs Superman thus far and director Zack Snyder was kind enough to share some tidbits, to help with the frustration of not having much new information about the sequel to Man Of Steel.
Most of the cast is reportedly in the land where winter has no end, Detroit, Michigan, which has seen more snow than ever this season and hopefully this doesn’t mean that the production is affected in any way. It will only mean Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), and Gal Galdot (Wonder Woman) won’t have to deal with super hot temperatures while wearing those tight suits.
Snyder recently sat down with Forbes contributor Mark Hughs for an in-depth interview about his yet unnamed Batman vs Supemran and talked about how the heck this sequel ended up being about everybody but Superman and oh, yes, when we can expect to see that Bat Suit.
This is the first time in movie history there will be a Batman vs Superman and the sky’s the limit as to what we can expect. Will it be a contentious relationship or will they fight the forces of evil side by side?
“I think Batman — now after Chris (Nolan)’s movies and the way we track Batman through his cinematic history — he does have this license to enter our world and be a real character and not a complete cartoon, and he’s able to tell us about the way we live and our society. He moves with us, his morality — I think Superman probably less so, but I think Batman definitely sort of reflects us in a more personal way.”
For the director of Batman vs Superman, The Dark Knight (the comic book) was what drew him to Batman and as a college student he dreamed about how cool it would be to make a movie about Batman.
Snyder confessed that after completing Man Of Steel he started thinking about what could be in the sequel and how they could have Batman come into the plot line.
“In the first meeting, it was like, ‘Maybe Batman?’ Maybe at the end of the second movie, some Kryptonite gets delivered to Bruce Wayne’s house or something. Like in a cryptic way, that’s the first time we see him. But then, once you say it out loud, right? You’re in a story meeting talking about, like, who should (Superman) fight if he fought this giant alien threat Zod who was basically his equal physically, from his planet, fighting on our turf…”
The 300 director said he was in awe at seeing, stand-ins for Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Galdot wearing their costumes together in the same shot, “Wow, that’s crazy!, he thought.
“Not only is it the first time that I’m seeing them, it’s the first time they’ve ever existed together on screen in a movie. And that’s kind of a huge deal. Even just Batman and Superman standing next to each other…It’s kind of epic.”
No kidding! Fans of Snyder and Man Of Steel are on the edge of their seats with anticipation as to what the action will be like. Will Batman beat the crap out of Superman? Snyder wanted a more “mature” Batman, hence the selection of Affleck and Superman is a young man, so how will this affect their interactions?
As to the much anticipated Bat Suit for Batman vs Superman, well, Snyder plays with the emotions of it all a bit (cruel man):
“Unfortunately, I don’t even know the timeline…I’m actually staring at one right now in my office. And it’s just massive on my wall in my office and it’s epic, let me tell you! And I’m like, ‘God, I want to send this to the Internet immediately.’ But I know I’m not allowed to (laughs)!”
