‘Magic Mike 2’ Gets An Official Title And A Release Date

Get ready Channing Tatum fans, the sequel to the popular Magic Mike movie has officially received a release date and a snazzy title. According to ABC News, Magic Mike 2 is now officially Magic Mike XXL, and if that doesn’t stir up some rather provocative thoughts, then I’m not sure what will.

Magic Mike had Channing Tatum fans everywhere feeling all hot and bothered and according to an earlier report by The Inquisitr, the movie earned $2.1 million dollars in midnight showings while playing in 1,100 screens across North America. According to the Chicago Tribune, the film made more than $167 million at the worldwide box office.

The first film aired in theaters on June 29th, 2012, and since then there have been a lot of mixed feelings about the sequel. There was also a lot of speculation as to whether or not the second Magic Mike film would actually become a reality.

Well, fans can rest easily, because Magic Mike XXL is happening and the Chicago Tribune is reporting that the movie is set to hit theaters on July 3rd, 2015. So who will be returning for Magic Mike XXL? According to MTV, Channing Tatum believes that everyone will be returning.

“I think everyone’s gonna be back, I think, and obviously nobody’s deals are done.” Tatum talked to MTV about Magic Mike XXL following Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, adding that this sequel will be more of a road-trip adventure.

“We don’t want to make it some serious slice-of-life movie,” Tatum admitted backstage. “We want to have real, like reality in it, but we don’t want to make like some dark drama. There was some darkness in the last movie and I think it surprised people and shocked people. This one, we want to have a lot of conflict and a lot of struggle, but we also want there to be a sh*t ton of fun. A sh*t ton of ridiculous stuff that you would never see in a movie, on the face of the earth, ever again.”

It would seem like Channing Tatum isn’t the only one excited about Magic Mike XXL, just check out these Twitter reactions to the announcement of the movie’s release date:
