Lenovo has bought its newest handset – the S660 — to India. The launch of this phone comes just a week or so after Lenovo launched another device – the A526 on April 2. Let’s take a closer look at the Lenovo S660 and its features.
Display and Hardware
The Lenovo SS60 features a 4.7 inch, qHD (960*540 pixels) display. It is an IPS, capacitive panel. Powering the handset is a 1.3 Ghz Quad Core processor that is housed inside a Mediatek MT 6582 chipset. The phone boasts of 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of internal storage capacity. You can enhance the memory further using micro SD cards of up to 32 GB capacity. The graphics part on the Lenovo S660 handled by the Mali 400 GPU that is also housed inside the Mediatek chipset.
Like all other handsets from its stable, the Lenovo S660 also runs a themed version of Android. The version of Android is 4.2 Jelly Bean. There is no word if the device would soon be updated to KitKat. The Lenovo S660 also comes preloaded with a bunch of apps right from the factory. These include Asphalt 7, Evernote, Facebook, Kingsoft Office, Route 66 Navi + Maps, Skype, Twitter and UC browser.
The camera on the Lenovo S660 is a bare bones 8-megapixel autofocus unit complete with an LED flash for low light imaging. The front camera too is a basic VGA unit that should suffice for basic video calling and Skype use.
The Lenovo S660 is a dual SIM handset and is one of the few handsets in India that supports 3G connectivity on both the SIM slots. It also naturally supports slower EDGE connectivity where 3G is not available. Other connectivity options on the Lenovo S660 include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi b/g/n, micro USB and 3.5 mm jack for audio. The phone also boasts of a host of sensors that include a gravitation sensor, proximity sensor and a light sensor that controls the display brightness according to the ambient light conditions.
This is one area where the Lenovo S660 stands apart from most of its completion. With a massive 3000 Mah battery under the hood powering the phone, the Lenovo S660 boasts of a 10 hour talk time and 35 days of standby time. The battery is also user replaceable.
