Chris Brown Arrested, Judge Orders Singer Held Without Bail
Chris Brown is in trouble again, a situation that never seems to end for the 24-year-old R&B crooner who must by now be wondering if he can ever resume his career that veered off the rails five years ago when he assaulted his then-girlfriend, the singer Rihanna.
Los Angeles County Sherrif’s deputies arrested Chris Brown on Friday, after Brown was kicked out of the Malibu-based rehab facility where he has been undergoing treatment for about four months. His probation in the Rihanna beating case depended on his ability to stay in the rehab facility, where he has been undergoing therapy to control his anger.
But Chris Brown has his probation revoked two times in the past year, once when he allegedly punched a fan on a Washington D.C. street.
No specifics as to why the rehab facility gave Chris Brown the heave-ho this time were made public. The arrest warrant that resulted in his being taken into custody said that he had failed to “comply with rules and regulations of the program.”
The arrest warrant signed by Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin also ordered that upon his arrest, Chris Brown would be held without bail, meaning that the “Kiss Kiss” songman will spend at least the weekend behind bars. He is not scheduled for a court appearance in front of Brandlin until Monday morning.
In February, prosecutors asked Brandlin to revoke Chris Brown’s probation and put him in jail due to his failure to “obey all laws,” a condition of his probation. But at the time, Bradlin chose instead to send Brown back to the anger-management rehab program.
Chris Brown was also kicked out of the rehab center last October when he threw a rock through a window of his own mother’s car. She had been at the center for a family therapy session, and told her son that he needed to stay in anger rehab, which angered him.
Chris Brown “proceeded to walk outside and pick up a rock and threw it through his mother’s car window and it shattered,” said a statement from the rehab facility.
