Kim Kardashian Wanted A Prenup, Kanye Didn’t Think They Needed It

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have a prenup written up and ready to go for when they finally tie the knot later this year. A prenup isn’t all that surprising for two rather wealthy individuals, but what some may (or may not) find surprising is the fact that Kanye didn’t think they needed one, but Kim insisted.

According to an earlier report by The Inquisitr, Kim and Kanye will be throwing a Spring wedding in Paris on May 24. Compared to Kim’s previous wedding to NBA player, Kris Humphries in 2011, her wedding with Kanye will be much smaller and more tamed. According to the report, Kim spoke to Ryan Seacrest about what her ideal wedding to Kanye would be like:

“We’re having a super, super small, intimate wedding. As we go along, we’re realizing we want it to be smaller and more intimate than people are imagining and thinking.”

After the Kardashian’s first marriage disaster, it’s not all that surprising that Kim would want a prenup. According to celebrity gossip writer, Perez Hilton, a source close to the couple revealed the following:

“The entire process for the prenup for Kim and Kanye has been extremely easy, and relatively drama free. Kanye didn’t even think the couple needed a prenup, and was ready to give Kim carte blanche to all of his financial assets. Yes, he loves Kim that much. There is a huge difference from Kim’s prenup with Kris Humphries… the preparation of their agreement went on for several months. It was long and tedious. The couple is focused on the wedding and looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together. Kim is head over heels in love with Kanye, and knows this is forever. Despite having been married twice before, Kim is treating this wedding as her one and only.”

Radar Online went into a little more detail as to what the prenup actually entailed which include $1 Million to Kim for each year she is married to Kanye, though it reportedly gets capped at $10 million. The report continues on to state that the title of their Bel Air mansion will be in Kim’s name, and any gifts given to her by Kanye will remain hers in the case of a divorce. “One of Kanye’s life insurance policies valued at $20 million will name Kim as the beneficiary, for life, even in the event of a divorce.”

Reports also state that as of now, there are no clauses in the current prenup that talk about custody arrangements for their daughter, North. Finally, all of Kim’s earnings from Dash will remain in her name only. It looks like Kim is pretty much set in case the marriage does go south, but hopefully this is the Kardashian’s happily ever after.

What do you think of Kimye’s prenup? Is it a smart move on both of their part?
