Russia Recalling Ambassador To The United States Over Obama’s Ukraine Comments

Russia is considering recalling Moscow’s Ambassador to the United States. President Vladimir Putin is reportedly being advised by Russian Senators to recall their diplomat due to President Barack Obama’s “aggressive” comments about the evolving situation in the Ukraine.

The Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian parliament, has reportedly ordered an international affairs committee to ask Putin to make a decision on recalling Moscow’s ambassador to the United States. “The president will consider the appeal and make a decision,” Russian Federation Council speaker Valentina Matvienko said.

Russian Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Yury Vorobiev created the ambassador recall initiative. Vorobiev referred to statements made by President Obama during a very brief press conference about the Ukraine on Friday, when speaking to the media. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, President Obama noted that Russia would be called to task for its military activities in the disheveled Ukraine if such activities did not cease. Vorobiev reportedly believes that the president, “crossed the red line and insulted the Russian people, a direct threat.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmity Peskov had this to say about recalling the Russian ambassador to the United States:

“Valentina Matvienko made a good point saying that the Federation Council expressed its opinion and made an appeal to the president. But it is up to the head of state to make a decision on the issue.”

Russian Vyacheslav Shtyrov reportedly welcomes the possibility of recalling Moscow’s ambassador and essentially cutting diplomatic ties with America. Shtyrov also stated that events in the Ukraine are the end result of activities carried out with the “participation of foreign states” with the United States playing an “important role” in the process. The breaking news coverage stemming from the Ukraine and Russia have many comparing the ongoing unrest and posturing to the Cold War era. According to Vyachselav Shtyrov, some American officials allegedly admitted that the US has “invested a lot of money to create such a situation.”

During President Obama’s press conference about the Ukraine he mentioned concerns about ongoing reports of Russian military movements inside the country. The soldiers that have reportedly taken over an airport and government building in Crimea, are not wearing any insignia on their uniforms. The soldiers have raised Russian flags in several locations. A CNN breaking news alert stated that one young soldier did say that he was Russian when asked about his country of origin by a journalist.
