Jared Leto has impressed audiences and critics alike, with his performance as the transgender woman, Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club and is a strong contender to take the Oscar for Best Supporting actor for the role.
The long-haired, blue-eyed actor, musician, director, and producer is blown away by all the attention his performance has brought him, taking Hollywood by storm
Speaking to the Huffington Post at the LA Confidential’s annual Oscar event, which has Jared Leto on is cover for their Spring issue he said joking, “I’ve never seen my head so big. Only on the inside.”
When he first heard the official announcement that he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club it was five in the morning and Jared Leto kept it to himself for just a little while longer, until a more civilized time came to call his family and friends with the news.
Jared Leto is considered a method actor and as such spent a lot of time researching transgender people to be able to put on the performance he did. His role has brought the spotlight on the community and he says:
“It’s been wonderful and supportive and generous — from the very beginning when I started research and preparation for the role.”
As he gets ready to possibly make an acceptance speech for the greatest honor of his acting career, he confessed he is anxious, but excited. Jared Leto shared that he will bring his mom and brother as his dates/supporters to the Oscars:
“It’s a great time to stress out about what you’re going to say for 45 seconds. It’s the whole family. And that’s just a dream. I couldn’t think of a better way to do it.”
Addressing the perception that he doesn’t age (as one can see when Googling his name) Jared Leto said he wasn’t sure about the fact that some people believe he is Dorian Gray incarnate:
“I don’t know. I have no idea, But I’m sure happy to be alive.”
Apart from being a very successful actor Jared Leto has also done very well in music as the lead singer, writer, and multi-instrumentalist of his band Thirty Seconds To Mars, with which he has sold over 10 million albums worldwide.
However, this weekend could eclipse almost everything, if Jared Leto is — as most believe — the one to take the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club on Sunday at the 86th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
