Kanye West was reportedly bitten by a little bug called jealousy after he learned about Pharrell Williams’ possible deal with Adidas.
The “Black Skinhead” rapper recently hooked up with Adidas to release a line of shoes, a fact West was quick to share with his fans during a concert last year. According to the Daily Mail , Kanye is also working on a line of clothing for the company.
Since the rapper has worked so hard to foster a relationship with the folks at Adidas, rumor has it that he’s not exactly thrilled that Pharrell Williams recently coasted in and signed a deal to develop his own fashion line. That’s when the little green monster supposedly reared its ugly head.

“They are competitive in both music and fashion, Kanye always watches what Pharrell does. He thinks having a similar artist working on their own brand for Adidas will make his collection less special,” an anonymous source recently told The Sun newspaper .
As always, it’s best to treat this stuff as utter nonsense until it comes from the mouth of Kanye West. Information from industry insiders and nameless sources is generally suspect by design, so don’t put too much stock into this particular rumor at the moment.
However, it’s understandable that Kanye West could feel a little threatened by Williams’ involvement with Adidas. The rapper recently told Seth Meyers that he wants to break down barriers in fashion , accomplishments that we may not understand until several decades down the road.
“It’s like, ‘No Kanye, you can’t run faster. This is the limit that was made. The walls that Michael Jackson broke down for you, and Jay Z and Russell Simmons broke down for you, this is the end of it.’ I’m in the process of breaking down walls that people will understand 10 years from now, 20 years from now,” West explained during his appearance on Late Night .
However, Kanye West didn’t seem to experience any jealousy when fellow Chicago rapper Chief Keef tweeted last year that he was possibly hooking up with the folks at Adidas . In fact, West recently collaborated with Keef for a song on the rapper’s upcoming album Bang 3 .
