Lana Del Rey’s New Music Leaks Including ‘All Smiles’

Last year artist Lana Del Rey was the victim of theft when her hard drive was stolen. The hard drive contained some never before heard rough cuts that were being considered for her Sophomoric album Ultraviolence. Since the theft, Lana Del Rey’s music has been released online numerous times. It seems as though the artist can’t control when these unreleased tracks are released and whoever is releasing the tracks is making calculated decisions to put the songs out in waves.

Following the recent leak of her song “Behind Closed Doors” which at the time seemed pretty polished, is now just one song in a pack of six additional songs that hit the web, specifically on the Soundcloud site. The title of these leaked Lana songs are “In The Sun,” “Put Your Lips Together,” “Party Girl,” “All Smile,” “Coca Cola,” and “Betty Boop Boop.”

While tracks like “In The Sun,” “Put Your Lips Together,” and “Betty Boop Boop” seem polished, there are those unreleased tracks that sound like they were in the very beginning stages of creation for Rey’s Ultraviolence album. Still, as we asserted with the leak of “Behind Closed Doors”, this sound, even if it’s not a hundred present representation of Lana’s upcoming album, seems like a huge departure from what she’s known for.

Some tracks sound peppy and poppy, which is a far cry from what tracks like “Young And Beautiful,” “Summertime Sadness,” “Blue Jeans,” and “Born to Die” represented.

Of the album, Lana Del Rey told Nylon:

“When people ask me about it, I just have to be honest — I really don’t know. I don’t want to say, ‘Yeah, definitely — the next one’s better than this one,’ because I don’t really hear a next one. My muse is very fickle. She only comes to me sometimes, which is annoying.”

Lana Del Rey addressed the leak on Radio.com:

“To be honest, what really happened was, three years ago somebody remotely accessed my hard drive, so even songs I’ve never emailed to myself [were accessed]. There are hundreds of them. I do feel discouraged, yeah. I don’t really know what to put on the record. But I guess I could just put them on and see what happens.”

Lana’s new album was rumored to be released on May 1 but right now we do not have an official date confirmed for Ultraviolet. We do know that it will be a big guessing game over what tracks end up on the final album, leaked or not.
