[Warning: Spoilers Ahead]

The Walking Dead, the AMC smash zombie series resumed its fourth season with the cast scattered about following the Governor’s attempted takeover of their prison home. Norman Reedus surfaced in last week’s episode Inmates, featuring his character Daryl and Beth, played by Emily Kinney, on the run from a herd of zombies trying to devour them. With the pair on the road together the thought of a possible romancing budding between the two has been mentioned as a possibility by fans. Michael Strahan wasted no time in asking the same question to which Dixon replied:

“I don’t know, you know, I’m very hesitant. I’m not really allowed to tell you. The thing about that is, I really want to play him sort of- he’s not the type of guy that’s gonna like, throw you up against the tree in the moonlight. I want him to be awkward as possible, so um, I mean, once that happens, it happens. You can’t go backwards. So, I really want the characters to earn [romance].”

Before the start of the fourth season of The Walking Dead, fans clamored for a romance between Daryl and fellow survivor Carol. But a monkey wrench was thrown into all of that during the first part of The Walking Dead season four when Carol was banished by Rick for murdering two other dying inhabitants. Carol made an unexpected return at the end of Inmates however, prompting further speculation that a Daryl Dixon romance might be in the cards after all. Host Kelly Ripa questioned however, how anyone has time for romance at all on The Walking Dead:

“To me its amazing that in the middle of the zombie apocalypse people are getting it on all over the place,” she told Dixon and a stunned Strahan. “I always find it surprising that they take time out of their day to “make love” while they’re on the run from the zombies.”

To which Strahan responded:

“If I’m going out I’m going out, I’m going out like that!” he said, eliciting a laugh from the crowd. “Life goes on baby!”

Who’s your pick for romance on The Walking Dead? Should Norman Reedus’ character Daryl Dixon get together with Beth or with Carol?
