St. Louis Park: 2-Year-Old Allegedly Kidnapped By Father

Police are searching for a 2-year-old missing from a St. Louis Park home who was allegedly abducted by his father early Sunday morning. According to CBS News, police are searching for Marque Montez Charleston, 33, who allegedly broke into the child’s home and kidnapped the 2-year-old boy.

Police say that Charleston broke into the home on the 3300 block of Virginia Ave. S. early Sunday morning and according to Fox 9 News, he allegedly assaulted the child’s mother, who has been identified as Kyesha Lewis before taking the child from the home.

Authorities stated that Charleston allegedly broke into the home through the back door before assaulting Lewis and taking the child. The two were last seen near Interstate 94 and Radio Drive in Woodbury, Minnesota. According to reports, it is believed that Charleston and the child got into a black 2005 Volkswagen Touareg SUV with Minnesota license plate 110-HUA.

According to CBS News, Charleston is a current member of the Minnesota Army National Guard. Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Olson, spokesman for the Minnesota National Guard, released the following statement:

“The Minnesota National Guard is aware of media reports regarding Marque Montez Charleston, and can confirm that he is a Lieutenant in the Minnesota Army National Guard’s Finance Detachment. He has been a member of the Minnesota National Guard since Jan. 23, 1998. At this time, the alleged charges are a matter for civil authorities.”

As of early this morning, it is unclear as to where Charleston is taking the child, though KSTP has stated that police believe he may be headed to either Florida or New York. Earlier reports did state that Charleston was believed to be intoxicated at the time he broke into the child’s St. Louis Park home. Whether he was acting alone or if there was another person in the vehicle at the time of the alleged kidnapping has not been clarified at this time. Police have described Charleston as five-foot-11 and 190 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and a pair of blue jeans.

Police ask that if anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Marque Montez Charleston or the 2-year-old boy, Marque Montez Charleston Jr., please contact the St. Louis Park Police Department at 952-292-8274 or email mgarland@stlouispark.org.
