Terrelle Pryor to the Oakland Raiders?

There are some rumors out there that the Oakland Raiders would like to select QB Terrelle Pryor in the NFL supplemental draft. It makes sense in a way as teh Raiders were reportedly pretty desperate to move up and draft Colin Kaepernick in the regular entry draft last April. Without a first round pick they were a little handcuffed in their ability to move up or down to land him. Pryor is a big risk for a team that just got over another QB draft bust in Jamarcus Russell, but other factors are at play here.

The Raiders have already traded away their second and fourth round picks in the 2012 NFL draft. Since using a pick in the supplemental draft takes away a corresponding pick in the next entry draft the Raiders have a limited shot at actually landing Pryor. On top of that landing him would leave them with very limited picks in the next draft, and that would be a high price to pay for a developmental QB that would likely not be able to make a big impact from day one.

Many think Pryor has a similar skill set to overall number one pick in 2011 QB Cam Newton. We could debate that from now until forever, but if the Raiders think they can get something out of him taking him in the supplemental draft could be a strong move as long as they select him after the third or so. I of course reserve the right to slam Al Davis and the Raiders should they make this move and it not work out.
