Turkey: Hijacker Wanted To Attack Sochi Olympics 2014?

In Turkey, a hijacker of a Pegasus Airlines flight allegedly wanted to attack the Sochi Olympics.

In related reports by The Inquisitr, so-called black widow terrorists plan suicide bombings for Sochi and so far none of these women have been caught. Officials have also issued a toothpaste alert warning of a possible way terrorists could attack airplanes.

The plane containing 110 passengers was an Ukrainian airliner hijacked as part of a terrorist plot. According to Turkey’s media, the hijacker yelled there was a bomb on board but didn’t manage to get into the cockpit, although he tried. The hijacker apparently took control before entering Turkish airspace. Fighter jet forces were scrambled and the plane was forced to land at Instanbul’s airport, where officials attempted to convince the hijacker to turn himself in.

The suspect was eventually “neutralized” but not killed. The alleged hijacker was apparently heavily drunk and was calmed down by the crew, who tricked him into thinking they were going where he wanted. The man was not armed and security sneaked onto the plane to subdue him.

Transportation Ministry official Habip Soluk claims the alleged hijacker did in fact want to attack the 2014 Olympics by landing in Sochi:

“While the plane was in the air, one of the passengers said that there was a bomb on board and asked the plane to not land in Sabiha Gokcen (in Turkey) but rather to land in Sochi.”

Turkey’s hijacker claims are under dispute with another anonymous Turkish government official. This person claims there is no proof the man, a 45-year-old Ukrainian named Artem Hozlov, wanted to land in Sochi, Russia. Security teams also searched the commercial airliner for explosives but none were found. But other reports claim Hozlov wanted to demand the release of anti-government protesters in Ukraine. It’s now said to be an “individual thing” and “not a serious issue” like an organized terrorist plot to attack Sochi.
