For those who aren’t up on the latest celebrity gossip, rumors started making the rounds earlier this week that Selena Gomez and Austin Mahone were dating. Although the singers hadn’t addressed the situation publicly at the time, a few sources suggested that they were most certainly getting close.
However, Austin Mahone recently spoke to People about the rumored relationship. That’s when the singer reached into his back pocket and pulled out the friend card. In short: He and Selena Gomez aren’t getting romantic at the moment.
“We’re just friends. She’s really cool. I mean, I think she’s really pretty but every time I’m in L.A., she’s like ‘Hey you’re in L.A., lets hang out,'” Mahone explained.
Although another source suggested that Selena and Austin could be more than friends, they definitely aren’t dating. Make of that cryptic comment what you will.
Rumors about Austin Mahone’s secret girlfriend seem to originate from Us Weekly. An anonymous source told the publication that both singers left the Beats Music concert last week by themselves. However, this didn’t stop them from getting into the same car.
“They’re seeing each other,” the insider explained.
While the pair are just friends right now, there’s always the possibility they could grow their friendship in the near future. Gomez told Seventeen magazine that she’s still looking for that special someone, though finding a guy who isn’t intimidated by her success is difficult.
Austin Mahone is definitely a busy guy at the moment. Not only is he spending some time with Selena Gomez, the “Banga Banga” singer is also working on his first full-length album. Mahone hopes to have the songs ready to rock later this year. However, he hasn’t settled on a release date just yet.
He told Fanlala last year:
“I feel like it’s working out because the more time we have, the more songs I record. So there’s going to be better songs on the album. The thing about the album is that throughout the year I’ll be like ‘Oh, it’s coming out in June… it’s coming out in August’ and it would keep moving. I felt so bad because my fans will be like ‘What are you doing? Why does it keep changing?'”
