Bill Gates Goes In Disguise As Secret Santa For Reddit User

Bill Gates may be the richest man in the world, but he’s still got time to pick up a gift for his Reddit Secret Santa partner.

The Microsoft founder joined in this year on the link-sharing site Reddit’s annual Secret Santa exchange, which randomly pairs up users with one another to send anonymous gifts.

A Reddit user named Rachel got quite a shock this week when her Secret Santa partner — who she knew only as “Bill” — decided to reveal himself as none other than Bill Gates.

“I thought Bill sounded like a friendly fellow,” Rachel wrote in a Reddit post. “In fact, I had this whole image of this poor guy named Bill trying to navigate my wishlist full of makeup, nailpolish, glittery things to buy me. Quite frankly I felt bad for this ‘Bill.'”

Rachel figured it out when she opened her package to see a stuffed cow and a note that said a real cow was being donated to a family in need in her honor. The cow donation was made through the non-profit group Heffer International.

There was also a picture of Bill Gates revealing that he was Rachel’s Reddit Secret Santa partner.

“I opened this and it’s a man holding a sign … And then it finally hit me. All the presents I just tore open, the charity, then everything — was from Bill GATES.”

Rachel said afterward that she was beyond pleased with the gift from Bill Gates.

“I am so very, very grateful for the amazing and thoughtful gift you have picked for me! Not only is the gift PERFECT from anyone, but I am sincerely very appreciative that you took the time to find something so fitting for me.”

This year Bill Gates was named the richest man in the world, and for the last 19 years he has held the spot as the richest American. But at the same time he is also one of the most philanthropic men in the United States, giving to a number of causes through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Bill is also a founding member of the Giving Pledge, which encourages the ultra-wealthy to give away most of their money after dying.

Rachel did have one regret for her Reddit Secret Santa Bill Gates — she said she was sorry for the iPad on her wish list.
