Cristina Fernandez Corruption Denied By Argentina, Scandal Claims Money Funneling

Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner is denying corruption charges related to her old friends and business partners, with Argentina’s leader accusing the leading newspapers of lying and defaming her.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, a little over two months ago Cristina Fernandez had a surgery where they drilled into her skull. She also was once rumored to have thyroid cancer, but apparently the reports were false.

At this point I’m sure Fernandez is wishing the corruption charges were just rumors and speculation limited only to the tabloids. The Cristina Fernandez scandal focuses on Lazaro Baez, whose businesses have won many public contracts with the Argentinian government during the the time period the Kirchner family has ruled over the South American country. Other parts of the government are curently investigating ” allegations of money laundering, tax evasion and illicit enrichment involving Baez and his government contracts.”

Americans are used to hearing about the “revolving door” of Washington politics, but in this case the La Nacion newspaper is alleging that Baez has been funneling taxpayer money back to Cristina Fernandez, which isn’t considered a grey area no matter what country you’re living in. The Argentinian president has several private businesses, one of which apparently is a hotel chain. According to La Nacion, Baez’s companies have been reserving a third of the hotel rooms whether or not they ever get used. They’ve also been propping up the state-controlled company Aerolineas in the same manner despite the airline continuing to lose money.

In response, Cristina Fernandez sent her presidential secretary, Oscar Parilli, to deny the corruption accusations on live television:

“The false reports by the daily La Nacion, later repeated incessantly once again by Clarin… try to put in doubt the legitimacy, legality and honesty of the private economic acts of the Presidents Nestor Carlos Kirchner and Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.”

Do you think the corruption charges against Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner might be true?
