Demi Lovato Tends To Freak Out When Strangers Give Her Hugs

Demi Lovato fans, listen up: The singer doesn’t appreciate getting random hugs from complete strangers. In fact, the whole experience kind of freaks her out.

Since the former Sonny with a Chance star adores her fans and frequently interacts with them, they tend to love her right back. This often involves getting hugs from complete strangers when she’s out and about. During a recent chat with Nylon magazine, Lovato said she often gets a little uncomfortable during these moments.

“Sometimes a fan will come up and automatically put their arms around me and I just shut down and start hyperventilating,” Demi explained.

The singer continued, “I don’t want to sound like a d*** or a diva, but I really do have anxiety problems. If I get stuck in a crowd, I’ll start to think, ‘Oh my God, I’m going to die. Something’s going to go wrong and someone’s going to stab me.'”

Considering the kind of strange fans pop stars tend to attract, it’s no wonder that Demi Lovato is a little concerned about the sort of people who approach her on the street or at shows. The X Factor judge also encounters people who often make up complete lies about the things she says regarding fellow Disney alums Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande.

Of course, there’s also the pervy folks who want to use the chance encounter as a way to lock lips or cop a feel on Demi Lovato. It’s these weird and peculiar moments that tend to make the singer more than a little anxious.

“There was a time when people started trying to kiss me, or creeps would buy backstage passes and reach for my face and try to make out with me. That was completely violating, and ever since then, I always fear what someone is going to do when they come up to me,” Lovato revealed during the recent interview.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Demi Lovato recently had to contend with a rumor that she slighted Cyrus and Grande during a trip to Cancun. The individual who cooked up this story even referred to the singer as “Demi Lavender.”

At one point during the alleged conversation, Lovato reportedly referred to the “Wrecking Ball” singer as a “homeless” rat. She also allegedly referred to Grande as one of those forgettable Disney stars that simply “come and go” from time to time. Lovato eventually cleared up these rumors with a post on Twitter.
