Meredith Baxter, everyone’s favorite Family Ties star, tied the knot with her girlfriend Nancy Locke at a ceremony on Sunday in Los Angeles. The ceremony was reportedly intimate and romantic as the two woman swapped their handwritten vows in front of friends and family.
Baxter spoke briefly to People Magazine after the wedding saying: “Now I understand why marriage caught on!”
Fans knew that something was brewing when back on November 12, it was reported that Baxter had received a marriage license in Beverly Hills.
Meredith Baxter is no stranger to walking down the proverbial aisle. She has already tried her hand at marriage three times with Robert Lewis Bush, David Birney and Michael Blodgett.
It seems that the fourth time round she is choosing a woman to marry, possibly hoping this marriage will stay the course.
Baxter, who revealed that she was a lesbian in 2009, said about Nancy : “I got involved with someone I never expected to get involved with, and it was that kind of awakening. I never fought it because it was like, ‘Oh, I understand why I had the issues I had early in life.’ I had a great deal of difficulty connecting with men in relationships.”
Interestingly, when Meredith Baxter came out and told her five kids that she thought she was gay. the reaction was better than she expected: “I said, ‘I think I’m gay,’ and my oldest boy said, ‘I knew.’ The support from my family and anyone close to me has been so immediate and unqualified. I’ve really been blessed,” she said.
