Ariana Grande Denies Selena Shade, Gomez Has Jingle Ball Issues Anyway

Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez haven’t had much to say to each other this year, despite both knowing Justin Bieber. Now they may have even less reason to speak, after Ariana was forced to deny that she shaded La Gomez for lip-synching.

Both singers performed at the KIIS FM Jingle Ball stage at Los Angeles on Friday, alongside Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, Jason Derulo, Austin Mahone, and other artists.

Along with others, Grande and Gomez experienced technical difficulties during their sets with each songstress handling it very differently.

Dressed in a white fur-trim mini-dress and towering white heels, the “Baby I” songstress attempted to joke when her microphone played up mid set.

“I’m sorry the mix was off the entire time. At least you know I’m not tracked,” Ariana reportedly told the Staples Center crowd.

That remark led to accusations from some Gomez fans that Grande was taking shots at the Latina — who had performed earlier — by implying she lip-synched at the ball.

Later taking to the social networking site to address the chatter, an exasperated sounding Grande wrote:

Meanwhile, Gomez found her solo spot at the Jingle Ball trying to say the least.

Turned out in a black wig teamed up with a red bodysuit and black lace thigh-split dress with black lipstick, some commentators are asking whether the 21-year-old had a mini meltdown onstage and not just because of her bizarre outfit.

After opening with “Birthday,” “BEAT,” and “Undercover,” Gomez mentioned the technical issues on stage, telling the crowd,

“Sorry, the sound isn’t working!” She then asked, “Are you guys having a good night?”

The Disney alum then added, “I promise, a lot cooler people are gonna come out tonight. Is it OK if I perform two more songs and you guys can get to it?”

In addition to footage of Selena’s performance, many reports claim the star looked “visibly angry.”

The starlet could clearly be heard saying, “What the f**k?” when her sound malfunctioned.

Regrouping, to a degree, Gomez thanked the audience for their “support” before unleashing her biggest hit to date to sing “Come & Get It.

However, Mail Online reports that despite promising to sing two more songs Gomez left the stage after just performing one, without explanation or a professional sign off.

The UK newspaper quotes an eyewitness on the scene as saying: “She was p***** doing the next song and she said two more songs. [She] didn’t do the last one.”

Prevailing opinion seems to be that Selena was lip-synching at the event with the aid of a backing track, although her microphone was clearly live at one unfortunate point.

Bearing in mind that Gomez is apparently no stranger to dropping a little shade herself, no doubt she’ll come back eager to prove her chops after her Jingle Ball blip.

As for Miley, she twerked on Santa Claus during her reportedly stomping set so perhaps the night wasn’t a total bust.
