Arrowhead Stadium Murder: Man Killed In Parking Lot During Kansas City Chiefs Game

A murder was reported in the parking lot at Arrowhead Stadium during Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos.

Details of the event are still hazy, including the nature of the death, but Kansas City police chief Darryl Forte referred to the incident as a homicide in a tweet. Elsewhere police referred to it as a death investigation.

The alleged murder at Arrowhead Stadium took place during the game in what police said was a fight in Lot A. Police sources told KCTV5 that a man and his son left the stadium during the game to go to their car, and when they got there found someone inside their vehicle.

A fight then broke out, with one man being rushed to the hospital, where he later died. Police did not confirm the report and have not said which of the three people reportedly involved in the incident — the man, his son, or the alleged burglar — was the one killed.

The murder during the Kansas City Chiefs game was reported at 5:20 pm, nearly two hours after the game started at 3:25 pm.

The murder is reminiscent of another tragedy that took place at the same campus exactly one year before. Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher killed girlfriend Kasandra Perkins, the mother of his infant daughter, and then drove to Arrowhead Stadium where he killed himself in front of team leaders.

Police have reportedly taken two people into custody after the murder at Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City Chiefs spokesman Ted Crews said the team will not make a statement on the murder at this time given the ongoing police investigation.
