Nicole Kurowski is a popular and attractive cheerleading coach and gym teacher at a Pennsylvania high school, and now the 27-year-old is out of work after being accused of carrying on a 10-month long sexual relationship with one of her students.
Kurowski turned herself in to police this week to face charges of institutional sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, and corruption of minors. Police say that for nearly a year the teacher carried on a relationship with a 17-year-old student at Tulpehocken High School, where she had been a teacher for two years.
State police allege that Nicole Kurowski had sexual contact with the male victim on several occasions. The sexual encounters were said to have taken place both during and after school hours, and sometimes even on school grounds.
As evidence, police collected thousands of sexually explicit text messages sent between Kurowski and her victim, according to WFMZ. In the messages the teacher and student both stated “I love you,” troopers said.
Nicole Kurowski was released on bail, and after originally being placed on leave with pay, her school has now suspended her without pay.
“I think whenever you are in education and you are trying to work with kids and you see something like this happen it is disheartening,” said Tulpenhocken Area School District Superintendent Edward Albert.
The arrest of Nicole Kurowski comes just a few weeks after another young and popular female teacher was caught in a sexual relationship with a student. Utah teacher Brianne Altice was arrested in her home in late October and charged with two counts of unlawful sex with a minor.
Police said the 34-year-old teacher had been carrying on a sexual relationship with at least one of her students, and the two had sex in a park and in the teacher’s home.
Police in Pennsylvania said Nicole Kurowski and the 17-year-old student also exchanged several racy photos, which they have recovered as evidence.
