‘Call Of Duty: Ghosts’ Trailer Lands ‘First Contact’ [Video]
The latest Call of Duty: Ghosts trailer is all about the “First Contact.”
Call of Duty: Ghosts was the game shown off at Microsoft’s big reveal of the Xbox One, bragging the addition of a dog who helps you take down enemy soldiers. Looking back, that was ironic. Infinity Ward’s latest addition to one of the most popular shooter franchises in the world is also on PlayStation 4, and Sony’s next gen console actually runs it at a higher native resolution, as previously reported by The Inquisitr.
Probably the most exciting recent announcement about the game was that it would have a four-player co-op mode called Extinction. In the new mode, Call of Duty: Ghosts takes the zombies from before and adds a new twist. Instead of the walking dead, you’re now fighting side by side in a squad of four soldiers and trying to kill off the aliens before they kill you.
The aliens in the Call of Duty: Ghosts Extinction trailer aren’t exactly anything you haven’t seen before. They appear similar to the larger creatures from Prototype 2 in that they burst out of pods planted firmly in the ground. Once the aliens make their way out of the pods, they swarm you like the Zerg in StarCraft 2. Unlike the games mentioned, however, Call of Duty: Ghosts‘ four-player co-op mode Extinction will put you in the situation as a regular soldier in a first person perspective.
There is little else as terrifying as being swarmed by aliens bent on killing you in first person perspective. We can only hope they made it compatible with the Oculus Rift for the full-on experience.
The Call of Duty: Ghosts trailer for the four-player co-op mode Extinction begins with a squad of four soldiers, one of which is a woman (a first for the series), patrolling a desolate street. They check a doorway and find a few dead bodies, but no threats. They come across an abandoned pickup truck with its hazard lights blinking. This wouldn’t be so unusual in a post-apocalyptic setting, except that it’s parked crooked in the middle of the street with the radio still on.
Checking the cab and finding nobody there, they turn off the radio and take the key out of the ignition, and then keep going, guns ready. One of them finds blood smeared on a wall, but nothing can prepare them for the pile of corpses around the corner and strewn out across the landscape from there. Another of them checks a glowing hole in the ground and announces it’s clear, just before the aliens attack from all sides.
From what the latest Call of Duty: Ghosts trailer has to show, it looks like the four-player co-op Extinction Mode will keep gamers busy for a long time trying to survive it.
