Jennifer Love Hewitt TV Show ‘The Client List’ Canceled By Lifetime

The Jennifer Love Hewitt TV show The Client List was recently canceled by Lifetime.

The second season of the series wrapped things up back in June. Although the network and the star were reportedly in negotiations for another batch of episodes, Lifetime decided not to move forward with the series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Jennifer Love Hewitt TV show struggled to match the ratings of the 2010 movie. Despite a strong first season, ratings for The Client List started to drop during the sophomore year. The website explains that the show ended its second season with 2.1 million viewers.

Reports suggest that The Client List producers weren’t exactly thrilled with the direction Jennifer Love Hewitt wanted the TV show to take. Since she’s in a relationship with co-star Brian Hallisay, the actress wanted this written into the show. Hewitt also wanted her pregnancy to become part of the storyline.

Deadline reports that Lifetime and Sony TV didn’t want any of this to become part of the plot. As a result, they decided not to move forward with the third season.

Although Jennifer Love Hewitt and her TV show are no longer part of the Lifetime lineup, the network has a few hit series to keep it afloat for the foreseeable future. Both Devious Maids and Witches of East End have performed very well for the network.

Devious Maids was recently renewed for another season. While Witches of East End hasn’t been renewed as of this writing, insiders believe it’s only a matter of time. Drop Dead Diva is also reportedly coming back for another go-around.

Since the show ended with a cliffhanger, fans aren’t exactly thrilled with the cancellation. Some folks are more than willing to point the finger of blame at Lifetime, while others feel that it’s Jennifer Love Hewitt’s fault that the TV show met an untimely demise.

“You can’t put all of the blame for this cancellation on Lifetime, this is not a simple case of the network not caring about the fans. The lead actress also appears to need to take part of the blame as well,” one Deadline user remarked.
