Bob Barker Spends $1 Million, Brings Three Elephants To California Sanctuary

Bob Barker paid more than $1 million to have three elephants transferred from the Toronto Zoo to a sanctuary in California.

Barker, a known animal activists, said that the three elephants didn’t have enough space to life happily at their home in Toronto. The former Price Is Right host has been working for close to two years to get the pachyderms into their new home at the Performing Animal Welfare Society’s ARK 2000 in San Andreas.

Barker said: “It was more than emotional for me, for all of us… I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. It’s hard to believe they are finally here… I had a lump in my throat, I had tears in my eyes. I’ve discovered that the older I get, the easier I cry,”

The three African elephants, Iringa, Thika, and Toka, will join eight other elephants on more than 2,000 acres of land.

Ed Stewart, the co-founder of the nonprofit that maintains the sanctuary, said: “Our job will be to give each elephant the best care and their own time and space in which to adjust.”

Barker was the host of The Price Is Right for 35 years and at the end of every show he reminded viewers to spay and neuter their pets. The animal activists said that he made a lot of money from the show and now he’s planning on spending it on making the world a better place.

Barker said: “I had a job that I loved… I was very well paid for it, and now I’m spending my money… I intend to die broke.”

Here’s a video of the elephants arriving at PAWS after a four day journey across the country.
