Jennifer Hudson Stumps For Obamacare In Funny Or Die Clip [Video]

NBC isn’t the only media outlet being criticized over Obamacare this week. Jennifer Hudson and Funny Or Die are also treading dangerously close to propagandizing the Affordable Care Act just a day before the main part of the controversial law goes live.

Though most Americans have enjoyed the Affordable Care Act’s perks up to this point, the main (and most controversial) part of the bill will finally be available to the public tomorrow. Before that happens, the Obama administration and all of its pals are pulling one last ditch effort to promote it.

The latest entry this morning comes courtesy of Funny Or Die with a video starring Jennifer Hudson, and riffing on the television show Scandal. In it, Hudson runs around Washington D.C. solving a number of “scandals,” which turn out to simply be misunderstandings about the Affordable Care Act.

In each instance, Hudson merely assures each confused voter that the Affordable Care Act will benefit them in their situation.

It’s a short, 2-minute clip, and while it was intended to make you laugh, more than a few have reacted the other way.

Writing for Mediaite, Noah Rothman called the clip “hideously awful,” and “indefensibly humorless.”

“It informs the debate over ‘Obamacare’ because it shines a clearer light on the position of the law’s defenders. This video is part of a stealth campaign (which the White House insists it is not behind) in which cute animal memes entice younger demographics to sign up for the health care exchanges.

“Unless Republicans in Congress rescue Democrats from themselves, the moment of truth for the Affordable Care Act is here. There are few signs which indicate that the law is ready for a smooth rollout. In fact, frenzied campaigns like these leave the viewer with an increasing sense of desperation among ‘Obamacare’ supporters.”
