Megan Young’s nude photos released prior to winning Miss World 2013 are being called a “smear campaign.”
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, photos of Miss Philippines nude for a bikini shoot suddenly resurfaced this past month and they featured Miss World naked from the waist up.
Many Muslims were upset with the Miss Philippines 2013 beauty pageant in of itself, calling it a “whore contest.” As it turns out the Miss Philippines contest had very strict rules where even posing naked for Breast Awareness campaigns could get you disqualified. Some Miss Philippines fans felt Megan Young’s nude photos should automatically disqualify her.
Cory Quirino, national director for the Miss World Philippines organization, feels the sudden release of Megan Young’s nude photos right before Miss World 2013 was an attempt to get her removed from the running:
“There has been a smear campaign by a negligible sector of the pageant industry to destroy Megan’s chances for a win in Miss World. In Bali the mood and aura around Megan is positive and promising. I believe Mrs Julia Morley has explicitly answered this one relentless Anti Miss World person/group to stop emailing the Miss World office as they are proud of all the candidates, including Megan. My request to all our countrymen is to consider the honor the Miss World Crown will bring to the country.”
Megan Young was also partially nude for a TV series called Hiyas which was a romantic drama filmed in the Philippines. Megan Young’s nude photos in the Rogue magazine bikini shoot don’t contain explicit nudity. We do see Miss Philippines topless but it’s always from an angle where any explicit nudity is covered.
Still, the same could be said for the Breast Awareness photos that had got previous Miss Philippines disqualified. But the beauty pageant rules for Miss World are probably not as strict since the Miss World 2010 winner Alexandria Mills also had claims of nude photos online and she was allowed to keep her crown.
Do you think Megan Young’s nude photos should disqualify her for serving as Miss World 2013?
