Sinead O’Connor Gets Face Tattoos After Bad Breakup

People deal with breakups in different ways. Sinead O’Connor, for instance, gets a new face tattoo every time she has her heart broken.

According to USA Today, the 46-year-old Irish singer got the tattoo after she had a falling out with a mystery man.

O’Connor showed off her new face tattoo (the letters “B” and “Q” on her cheeks) during an appearance at the Bestival Music Festival in Britain. The singer posted a message on her website saying that the letters represent the initials of Brendan Quinlan.

The post has been deleted but the Independent reports that the message read: “Brendan Quinlan.. “It’s what it is”.. Un ange passe(French for “awkward silence”)
There’s a bottle of Agent Provocateur in someone’s room thatBelongs to me.”

Sinead O’Connor’s face tattoo is strange for a few reasons. First, it’s a face tattoo. Second, why would you want to constantly remind yourself about a person who scorned you? And lastly, aren’t singers supposed to write songs about their ex-lovers? Instead of getting a face tattoo, Sinead O’Connor could have pulled a page out of the Alanis Morissette / Taylor Swift playbook and tried to revive her career.

But maybe Sinead O’Connor’s face tattoos aren’t anything to laugh about. The singer has been battling depression and may even be bipolar. Earlier this year, O’Connor said that she attempted suicide and asked her fans for help on Twitter.

Sinead’s father defended the face tattoos saying: “Everyone has their own way of expressing themselves. Put it this way, every individual has their own way of expressing themselves.”
