Alanis Morissette’s Music Incites Domestic Violence Incident

Alanis Morissette’s music has reportedly incited a domestic violence incident in Jacksonville, Florida.

Allen Casey, 24, was arrested for domestic violence following a fight with his boyfriend Todd Fletcher, 33. The two were seen arguing outside of their home by a neighbor who called police after she saw Casey strike Fletcher in the face with his fists.

Casey then fled to a nearby park where he was subsequently arrested by Jacksonville Police. What incited the heated argument? Apparently it was the music of “You Oughta Know” singer Alanis Morissette! According to a police report, Casey told the authorities “That’s all that (expletive) listens to.” Casey also allegedly attacked Fletcher with a plate, leaving Fletcher with a gash on the side of his face.

I remember when Jagged Little Pill first came out; my best friend Liz played that CD over … and over … and over. Did I think “Ironic” was a stupid song that made zero sense because the events she describes aren’t actually ironies but more like small inconveniences, sure, but that’s no reason to smash someone’s face in.

No word yet from Morissette on how she feels about inciting a domestic violence attack. She is currently earning accolades for her touching rendition of Green Day’s “Basket Case” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. As reported on The Inquistr, the band was forced to cancel their scheduled appearance following Billie Joe Armstrong entering rehab and Morissette graciously (and beautifully) filled in.

With Allen Casey reportedly telling police it was Morissette’s music that caused him to attack his boyfriend, I would love to see the singer pay a recovering Todd Fletcher a visit or send him words of encouragement.
