Gillian Anderson Fuels Speculation For Third X Files Movie

Gillian Anderson is ready to once again revive her most famous character, FBI Agent Dana Scully.

The 44-year-old actress appeared this week at Comic-Con in San Diego, joined by fellow X Files co-star and reported lover David Duchovny. Gillian told the fans that she wouldn’t really consider doing a revival of the show, but told the audience “a film would be great.”

The admission brought a roar of approval from the crowd, and has added to speculation that another movie could be in the works.

David Duchovny also seemed to think the X-Files franchise still had some good mileage left in it.

“I think we could do it forever,” he said. “I always thought whenever we can do it – come back together – we would.”

The X-Files was a television show that ran on Fox from 1993 to 2002, with Duchovny and Anderson playing FBI agents who took on cases of the unexplained. The cult classic series saw the agents taking on cases involving aliens and monsters, and its popularity spawned two movies after the series ended.

If it’s any indication, Anderson and Duchovny still seem to have the same chemistry that permeated through the show and first two movies. During the panel, Duchovny wondered if their characters ever had sex, to which Anderson replied, “Well, something happened. Because we have a child.”

A fan later asked what Mulder and Scully would do if they ever dated, and Anderson said, “Have sex!”

Their characters actually did get together in the show’s finale in 2002, and last summer it was reported that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson were hooking up in real life as well. A report from Yahoo!’s The Juice said the two were dating and actually moved in together.

Though David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson both seem on board for another X-Files movie, show creator Chris Carter hasn’t committed one way or the other.
