Lauren Spierer’s Parents File Lawsuit Against Last 3 Men To See Her Alive

The parents of missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer have filed a lawsuit against the last three men who were seen with their daughter. Her parents filed the lawsuit to avoid statute of limitation issues down the road.

Corey Rossman, Jason Rosenbaum, and Michael Beth were the last three men to see Spierer alive. The men are accused of providing Spierer with alcohol and then failing to look after her.

The lawsuit was filed this week because civil filings in injury or wrongful death suits in Indiana have a two year statute of limitations.

Spierer was at a party at Rosenbaum’s the night of June 2, 2011. According to court filings, Spierer left the party with Rossman and another friend and went to Rossman’s apartment. Later in the night, Rosenbaum stopped by the apartment.

The lawsuit says Beth noticed that Spierer was extremely drunk and that Rossman was encouraging her to join him at local sports bar Kilroy’s. Rossman eventually escorted Lauren Spierer to Kilroy’s, and witnesses say Spierer was having trouble standing and required assistances to walk with Rossman’s help.

Later in the night witnesses told police that Lauren Spierer was “distressed, incoherent and nonresponsive” when spotted with Rossman at the Smallwood Plaza apartment complex.

Despite her inability to stand on her own, Lauren Spierer returned home at 3:30 am where she met up with Rossman and Spierer once again. Beth told police that Spierer was slurring her words and seemed more intoxicated than she was earlier that night.  Beth said he asked Spierer to sleep on his couch, but she refused, and Beth helped her into Rosenbaum’s apartment. Later in the night, Spierer was seen being escorted by Rossman through the alley towards her apartment. Witnesses claim that at one point Rossman was carrying Spierer across his back.

Rosenbaum claims he was trying to contact mutual friends to get her home but eventually let her walk by herself at around 4:30 am.

Corey Rossman was the last person to see Lauren Spierer alive.

In the lawsuit, the girl’s parents claim the men are responsible for disappearance based on “abandonment in an intoxicated and disoriented state in the early morning hours of June 3, 2011 in an area known for criminal acts contributed to her disappearance, and presumed injuries and death.”

Robert and Charlene Spierer are not commenting on the lawsuit at this time.
