HP Slate Set To Undercut Apple iPad Pricing With Windows 7 OS, 3G

The HP Slate PC wants to send iPad it’s first blow and it plans to do so by undercutting the pricing announced for Apple’s newest gadget, while offering a full Windows 7 operating system and 3G.

According to Electronista:

[The Slate] will cost less than the $629 Apple wants to charge [for a comparable 3G version]. Executives are reportedly meeting both in the US and Taiwan to lock down the costs and feature set within the next few weeks.

Very few other details have been revealed about the device, however since Windows 7 requires at least 16GB of drive space, it’s safe to assume the hard drive offered will be a bit bigger (or at least the same size) of those found on the iPad, while an Atom chipset is the likely processor of choice if cost cutting is a major concern.
