Amazon To Give Free Kindles To Prime Subscribers [Rumor]

Amazon Kindle

Amazon Prime customers tend to be some of the most loyal for the company and now a rumor is circulating that Amazon may reward those customers with a free Amazon Kindle…of course certain conditions would be applied.

Currently it costs Amazon $259 to make a Kindle, while Prime Membership is only $79 per year and allows customers to receive free 2 day shipping on all of their qualifying purchases.

The numbers don’t quite match up, however if Amazon can prove that their delivered Kindle numbers are continuing to climb, even with the Apple iPad on the horizon, it could be a good marketing move for the companies most popular product.

No word yet as to when such an offer may begin, at this point it’s nothing more than a rumor and as mentioned earlier, conditions will more than likely apply. [Electronista]

One potential benefit is wireless delivery of books via Kindle instead of free two day shipping or $3.99 overnight. So maybe that’s a win for them if enough people opt for a Kindle book instead of paper.
