Michelle Williams’ new haircut debuted this week, and it definitely has a touch of Bieber about it.
The Oz the Great and Powerful star was spotted sporting a shorter, edgier ‘do in New York, complete with pink, side-swept long bangs and one side of her head shaved. Come to think of it, it may be more Miley than Bieber.
Either way, the 32-year-old pulled it off with aplomb when she showed up for the Kate Young for Target launch. Michelle Williams’ haircut was combined with a smart white blazer over high-waisted silk shorts and a pair of towering heels.
Williams, who is famous for her cropped blonde locks, recently said she was “ready” to grow her hair out again. In the past, the star has said she kept her hair short as a homage to the late actor Heath Ledger, father to Williams’ daughter Matilda. Speaking to Elle magazine in 2011, Williams said:
“I cut it for the one straight man who has ever liked short hair and I wear it in memorial of somebody who really loved it.”
Another new look didn’t go down so well earlier this year for Williams. The actress dressed as a Native American for British mag AnOther Magazine, complete with long braids and beads and a feather in her hair.
The cover, which was intended to promote Oz: the Great and Powerful, quickly went viral, with many describing the piece as “offensive,” “racist,” and “stereotypical.” The magazine publisher released a slightly weak apology in the days following the outrage.
What do you think of Michelle Williams’ haircut? Twitter seems torn:
