Jason Bateman Buys Ernest Borgnine’s Estate

Jason Bateman and his wife Amanda Anka are now the proud owners of legendary actor Ernest Borgnine’s secluded upscale estate in Beverly Hills.

Borgnine, a Hollywood icon, passed away in July of last year and his home was put on the market shortly thereafter. Property records indicate that Bateman and Anka finalized their purchase on January 23, 2013 after shelling out $3 million for the five bedroom estate.

Bateman and his wife’s fancy new abode sits atop a knoll above the famed Mulholland Drive. Tucked in a cul-de-sac, the Borgnine estate boasts 6,148 square feet and is accessible only through a gated drive.

An article by Trulia describes the homes interior as follows:

“The formal entry hall, with its grand, sweeping staircase, welcomes visitors to the entertaining and public rooms. In addition to the spacious living and family rooms, which each open to the beckoning pool and patio areas, there is a paneled library, office, den, formal dining room, breakfast room, and kitchen. One wing upstairs is occupied by the master suite — comprised of dual baths and dressing rooms, a private sitting room, and a grand balcony. The other wing is home to two bedrooms, a ‘Jack and Jill’ bath, and an upstairs lounge/study area.”

The Huffington Post writes that Ernest Borgnine retained ownership of the estate for the 60 years prior to his death. When the home entered the real estate market in September of 2012 it came with an asking price of $3.395 million.

Jason Bateman gained enormous polularity for his role as Michael Bluth in the cult television favorite Arrested Development. The series ran for three years before coming to an end in 2006. Most recently the actor can be seen in the comedy film Identity Thief.
