‘God Of War: Ascension’ Drops A 30 Minute Gameplay Trailer [Video]

Although God of War: Ascension has a few teaser trailers floating around the internet, not much has been seen of the game in action. Sony has set out to correct that problem.

In an effort to keep people talking about the upcoming sequel, the company has unleashed a 30-minute gameplay trailer for the action title. Judging from the clip embedded below, Ascension seems to retain the fluidity and over-the-top violence found in its predecessors.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Sony’s gory cinematic sequel would unveil a brand new trailer during the Super Bowl on February 3. However, those who have been waiting patiently for a look at Kratos laying waste to his adversaries can now indulge in the new trailer.

The game’s official synopsis reads:

“Vengeance is born in the fires of betrayal in this prequel to the best-selling ‘God of War’ franchise. Six months have passed since Kratos stood over the bodies of his wife and child, his hands stained with their blood – tricked by Ares into murdering the only people he ever loved. Swearing to avenge them, Kratos broke the blood oath that bound him to Ares, but oaths to Olympus are not so easily broken.

“Sentenced to an eternity chained within a prison for the living damned, Kratos battles insanity at the hands of the Furies. He will be tested as he seeks freedom, redemption for his sins, and the clarity to avenge his family.”

In addition to plowing through the adventure all by yourself, gamers will be able to shed copious amounts of blood in the new multiplayer mode. Ascension’s director recently told Gametrailers that the developers hadn’t forgotten about the single player campaign.

You can check out the new gameplay footage below.

God of War: Ascension is slated to arrive exclusively for the Playstation 3 on March 12. Are you looking forward to the next installment in Sony’s action-packed franchise?
