Dakota Fanning Speaks Highly Of Friend Kristen Stewart, Defends Her Against Cheating Scandal

Dakota Fanning is close with fellow actress Kristen Stewart, bringing up their friendship in an interview with Glamour magazine and sticking up for the Stewart in the wake of her cheating scandal.

In the interview, Fanning reiterates that she’s close with her Runaways and Twilight Saga co-star, just a few months after she stood up for Stewart in the wake of a cheating scandal.

“When we’re together, we’re not talking about movie stuff,” Dakota Fanning told Glamour. “She’s just my really good friend, you know? We go out. We stay in a lot too. I’m a homebody!”

With the heat on Kristen Stewart after she was revealed to be having an affair with Rupert Sanders, the married director of her movie Snow White and the Huntsmen, Dakota Fanning also stood up for her.

While promoting Breaking Dawn Part 2 in November, Fanning made it a point to stand up for Kristen, saying that others shouldn’t be so fast to rush to judgment.

“Well, I just think that media frenzies like that…Everyone thinks they have the right to, you know, publicize the struggles and sadness and heartbreak and all that,” Fanning told InStyle UK at the time. “It’s like, ‘Why do you think you are the authority to judge people’s experiences? ‘”

Dakota Fanning hasn’t been the only one to stand by Kristen Stewart. Though news that Sanders and wife Liberty Ross are divorcing has dredged up some of the controversy again, many in Hollywood have defended Stewart and the relentless media pressure she faced after the scandal erupted. Former Panic Room co-star Jodie Foster spoke out in support of Stewart, as did others who pointed out that she seemed to face unfair pressure that others — especially leading men — did not face after being caught cheating.
