Virtua Fighter enthusiasts who think they have what it takes to compete with brawlers from around the country will be able to test their mettle next year.
In partnership with Level|Up, the folks at Sega are giving gamers a chance to thrown down at the Sega Cup: Virtua Fighter Tournament 2013 in Walnut, California. The virtual blood sport is currently scheduled to take place at Super Arcade on April 20, 2013.
The competition will be open to all fighting game fanatics who have spent a significant amount of time honing their skills on Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. However, you’d better bring your A game if you’re going to make the journey. If the competition is as fierce in the arcade as it is online, then your match could be over before it really had an opportunity to begin.
The Sega Cup: Virtua Fighter Tournament 2013 describes itself as follows:
“On April 20, 2013, we’re calling out your ‘Virtua Fighter’ skills for the ultimate test to compete for cash, prizes, and bragging rights! Sega and Level|Up presents Sega Cup: Virtua Fighter Tournament 2013! Sega Cup will feature a full day of ‘Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown’ competition in the heart of SoCal’s fighting game hotspot Super Arcade in Walnut, California. We’re also featuring awesome attractions for fans supporting the event live and for our viewers at home!”
According to Event Hubs, this isn’t the only fighting game tournament taking place on the planet during 2013. In addition to the aforementioned Sega Cup, virtual brawlers can square off against other players at the Video X Games tournament on the island of St. Maarten.
German fighting fanatics can test their skills at the Da Ultimate Crushing 2013 in Bad Cannstatt, Germany on January 26 and 27. Although previous years focused strictly on Street Fighter 4, the event is reportedly broadening its horizons for the 2013 tournament.
